Under the theme 'The wonderful circus of letters', the recent edition of the Sexitana Book Fair transformed Plaza Marruecos into a vibrant cultural hub. The event, which coincided with the celebrations leading up to Book Day, stood out for its wide range of activities and the remarkable turnout of people of all ages.
A representative from the Education and Culture department of the Almuñécar City Council gave a very positive assessment of the fair, highlighting the quality of its programming and the great public response. The square hosted over twenty authors and hundreds of attendees, solidifying the fair as one of the most important in the province of Granada.
“"This fair has been the result of a collective effort that demonstrates Almuñécar's commitment to reading."
The organization expressed gratitude for the work of all involved, including the management of the Municipal Library and the staff of the Culture department. The participation of local authors and those from other Andalusian provinces was highlighted, reinforcing the event's prestige in the regional literary scene.
One of the most moving moments was the awards ceremony for the School Literary Contest, which received over 300 works from students of various educational levels. As a novelty, this edition included the 'Sun Award', aimed at students with functional diversity, emphasizing the fair's inclusive nature. Prizes consisted of vouchers redeemable for books or school supplies and material kits for participating centers, thus promoting reading and supporting local commerce.
Throughout the day, the fair offered a continuous program with book presentations, author meetings, public readings, musical performances, and scenic proposals. Local bookstores Contreras and Dayda set up their stands in the square, bringing their new releases to the public with special prices and facilitating direct contact between writers and readers.
