“"Culture in general is seeds. Sometimes seeds come together with others and fusions are made, but it is true that in the end there is an identity. That root is a meaning. It is not very clear what comes first, the egg or the chicken, the seed or the root. If we pull the thread back, we are all brothers, children of the same nature. As human beings, we have cultural traits that have a root. Discovering identities is enriching. Root culture is that. Then there is multiculturalism and miscegenation, because culture is alive, the root is alive and coexistence is enriching."

The music label Rootsound, based in Granada, celebrates two decades of its trajectory this Saturday with a festival at the Teatro CajaGranada, promising a night of avant-garde and cultural fusion.
The celebration of Rootsound's twenty years will transform the Teatro CajaGranada into a vibrant space for dance and borderless musical identity. Far from nostalgia, the event focuses on the “collision of current trends,” presenting a proposal that looks towards the future of roots music.
The lineup includes the return of Argentine artist Natalia Doco, the debut in Spain of Moroccan Mr. ID with his Maghrebi-rooted electronic music, and the city premiere of Mexican Pahua, who fuses folklore with synthetic rhythms. These names, among others, reflect Rootsound's commitment to peripheral sounds and musical avant-garde.
The agency, founded by a young environmental science student in 2001, has served as a cultural bridge, bringing international artists to Spain and exporting music from Granada and Andalusia to various countries. Its catalog includes names like Totó La Momposina, Calle 13, Eskorzo, and Vinila Von Bismark, among many others.
The Saturday event will kick off at 8:00 PM with a toast and sets by Tony Moreno Dj and Nestior Dj. Following this, Angolan-Portuguese artists Throes y The Shine, Los 300, Cosmic Wacho, Nickodemus, and Vinila Von Bismark will perform, with artist Jihan hosting the night until 3:00 AM.
The festival also maintains a social commitment, dedicating one euro from each ticket to Acción por Maro y su Agricultura, supporting farmers on the coast of Nerja. This event confirms how the organization has managed to connect Granada with the world through a diverse and intercultural catalog.
