The political group pointed out that opening educational centers on weekends was carried out without any leisure proposals or proper planning. According to the opposition, the local government treated the schools as mere public spaces without offering any engaging alternatives for families in Granada.
The program, which ran from September 13, 2025, to June 27, 2026, included nine schools in the capital, such as CEIP Federico García Lorca, CEIP Sierra Nevada, and CEIP Profesor Tierno Galván. Despite the formal availability of these spaces, the PSOE claims that the lack of advertising and organized activities resulted in the schoolyards remaining virtually empty.
“"It is not enough to open the door and remove the padlock; you have to provide the spaces with life, content, and, above all, inform the neighbors."
Given this situation, the socialists have urged the local government to abandon improvisation and begin working on the planning for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. Their demand includes designing a real calendar of socio-educational and sports activities coordinated with parent associations, supported by the necessary budget to ensure its success.
