The ceremonies, presided over by the archbishop of Granada, José María Gil, include an anointing with holy chrism, a rite that began with the Chrism Mass on April 1st. Participants come from various parishes in the capital and the province, as well as from brotherhoods, confraternities, University Pastoral Care, the Military Ordinariate, the Redemptorist community, and several educational centers.
The first day, May 8th, saw 122 people confirmed from parishes such as Valderrubio, Santa Escolástica, and San Agustín, in addition to members of the Cofradía de los Estudiantes, the Santa Cruz La Real Major Seminary, and University Pastoral Care.
Another ceremony will take place this Friday with confirmands from the Cofradía del Gran Poder y la Esperanza, the Military Ordinariate, the Redemptorist community, and the parish of Cenes de la Vega.
The ceremonies will continue from May 18th to 29th. On the 18th, schools Virgen de Gracia, San Fernando, and Santo Domingo will participate; on the 20th, La Presentación, Nuestra Señora del Rosario, Lux Mundi, Salesianos, and La Inmaculada. On the 21st, La Asunción, Compañía de María, and Pureza de María will be involved. The 22nd will be for parishes in Las Gabias, Ogíjares, Güéjar Sierra, Quéntar, Dúdar, Montefrío, Cájar, and others in Granada capital. On the 25th, Regina Mundi and San Francisco de Sales are expected; on the 26th, Sagrado Corazón and Santo Tomás de Villanueva; on the 27th, Mulhacén and El Carmelo; on the 28th, Mulhacén, Monaita, Ave María Casa Madre, and Escuela Hogar Madre Teresa; and on the 29th, San Gil y Santa Ana, Lancha del Genil, San Gregorio Bético, Inmaculada Niña, and the Cofradía de la Aurora.
