The National Police have arrested in the Centro District of Granada the alleged perpetrator of a mobile phone theft at an ice cream shop. The individual took advantage of the busy period and the owners being occupied with customers to take the device and flee the premises.
Following the report filed by the victims, the Centro Theft Group initiated an investigation. Using technological means, officers were able to determine the identity of the responsible party. Days later, with an active search warrant, the suspect was located and identified in the same district, leading to his arrest and subsequent handover to judicial authorities.
The incident occurred around 3:30 PM. While the couple running the business were serving customers, a man approached the counter, took one of their mobile phones, and left the establishment. The owners did not realize the theft until minutes later, when the perpetrator was already far from the shop.
The couple filed a formal complaint at the Centro District Police Station, and the Theft Group took charge of the investigation. Based on technological evidence, the investigators precisely identified the alleged perpetrator and issued a police warrant for his location and arrest.
Approximately two weeks later, a Citizen Security patrol, on crime prevention duty, received a dispatch from the Cimacc 091 control room regarding an agitated individual bothering passersby on a street in the Centro District. Upon arrival, officers obtained a description of the man, who had already left the area.
After a search of the area, officers located the individual a short distance from the incident. During the identification process, they discovered that he had an active police warrant for the mobile phone theft, leading to his arrest and transfer to police facilities.
The detainee, aged 49 and with nearly 40 prior police records for various offenses, has been placed at the disposal of the judicial authority.
