The Lorca Patronage, under the Provincial Council of Granada, has formally incorporated the documentary and bibliographical legacy of Juan de Loxa. This significant collection, comprising thousands of documents, manuscripts, correspondence, and related materials, enhances the province's cultural heritage.
The president of the Provincial Council of Granada, Francis Rodríguez, presided over the reception act. Rodríguez emphasized the "enormous relevance" of the legacy for Granada's cultural memory, highlighting Juan de Loxa's role in promoting culture and preserving the legacy of Federico García Lorca.
The legacy includes the personal archive and library of the poet, journalist, and cultural promoter. The Loxa family expressed their peace of mind knowing the material, which features extensive correspondence and unpublished texts, will be well-preserved. The University of Granada had previously conducted a study, digitization, and cataloging of the material.
Juan de Loxa had a close connection with the Lorca Patronage, having been tasked by the Provincial Council of Granada to establish the Federico García Lorca Birthplace Museum in Fuente Vaqueros and to direct the Patronage during its first two decades.
The documentary collection, totaling 6,475 documents in Granada and 3,300 in Málaga, reflects Loxa's extensive activities. It includes unpublished texts, manuscripts, sketches, correspondence (representing 33% of the textual documents in Granada), radio scripts, stage scripts, and materials from other authors. Notable are documents related to projects like Poesía 70 and his radio programs.
