The film, titled 'El sastre del rey' (The King's Tailor), features the notable participation of American actor Alec Baldwin, who praised the story for its sweetness and innocence. The cast also includes Spanish stars such as Natalia de Molina and Alberto Ammann.
The plot is set in the 1960s and tells the story of a boy who accompanies his father, a tailor commissioned to make clothes for the King of Morocco. Baldwin expressed his liking for the script, calling the film "beautiful" and highlighting its difference from current, more "harsh" productions.
Pedro Casablanc, whose real name is Pedro Manuel Ortiz Domínguez, revealed that the film has autobiographical elements, inspired by his childhood in Casablanca and his father's profession. The director describes it as a "love letter to cinema" and to the families who lived apart from the political climate of the time.
The production, managed by María Luisa Gutiérrez and Álvaro Ariza, has been four years in the making and is in the final stages of filming, which took place entirely between Granada and Tangier. A release date has not yet been set, as significant attention will be dedicated to post-production.
This project is not the only one for Joaquín Núñez, who won the Goya Award for Best New Actor for 'Grupo 7'. The Malaga-born actor is also scheduled to appear in 'Ukelele para dos', directed by Enrique García.
