The police operation was triggered by an alert from the Central Operative, which dispatched a patrol to the municipality of Cacín. Upon inspecting the vehicle, officers discovered a box containing five nests that had been plundered from the wild.
A total of 21 live chicks and one egg were recovered, all belonging to the finch family. These songbirds are strictly protected by environmental regulations, which prohibit their capture, possession, and illegal trade.
Following the discovery, SEPRONA agents immediately released the birds back into their natural habitat to ensure their survival. The two individuals involved have been placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities for an alleged crime against wildlife and biodiversity.
