The works committee of the Granada Metro has confirmed the call for new strike days, which will extend throughout the week of Corpus Christi, the city's main fair. These mobilizations are part of the ongoing labor dispute with the company Avanza for the renewal of the collective agreement.
The president of the Avanza Metro Granada Works Committee, Joaquina Flamit, stated that the decision is a response to the successful participation in previous strikes and the lack of agreement with management. "We have decided to resume mobilization during a key week for the mobility of the city and the Metropolitan Area," she declared.
The partial stoppages will begin on the night of Saturday, May 30, from 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM, coinciding with the fair's inauguration. Subsequently, there will be interruptions on Tuesday, June 2 (6:00 PM - 8:30 PM), Wednesday, June 3 (1:00 PM - 3:30 PM and 9:30 PM - 11:59 PM), and Saturday, June 6 (1:00 PM - 3:30 PM), affecting significant days such as Tarasca Day.
“"We have decided to call for these new partial stoppages to show our fight and continue defending dignified working and salary conditions for all staff. We appreciate the support, unity, and understanding shown by all colleagues."
The strike committee is confident in the staff's support to achieve improvements in their working and salary conditions, highlighting the importance of the service during the Corpus Christi celebration for the mobility of citizens and visitors.
