After a July that set meteorological records, August begins with the forecast of intense heat in Granada. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) anticipates clear skies and no rain, with a significant temperature rise starting Wednesday.
The highest values are expected between Thursday, August 6, and Saturday, August 8, placing Granada among the Andalusian provinces with the highest temperatures. The province's interior will be most affected, with highs potentially nearing 40 degrees Celsius.
In the capital, maximum temperatures will range between 37 and 38 degrees at the start of the week, rising to 39-40 degrees from Wednesday. Nights will be tropical, with lows of 21-22 degrees, making it difficult to dissipate accumulated heat.
The Costa Tropical will experience more moderate temperatures, between 31 and 34 degrees, but high humidity will create a greater feeling of mugginess. Lows will remain between 24 and 26 degrees.
The Altiplano regions (Baza and Huéscar) will register highs from 36 to 39 degrees, with cooler nights (17-18 degrees). In Loja and the Poniente granadino, temperatures will again approach 40 degrees, with warm lows of 20-22 degrees.
The most suffocating days are predicted for Thursday, August 6, Friday, August 7, and Saturday, August 8. Extreme precautions are advised, especially for vulnerable populations and those engaging in outdoor activities.
