The first tremor occurred at 10:37 AM with its epicenter in Gójar, at a depth of five kilometers. Seismic activity continued throughout the morning with several aftershocks in municipalities within the Metropolitan Area, such as Alhendín, Las Gabias, Churriana de la Vega, and Padul, with magnitudes exceeding four degrees in several instances.
As a result of these movements, three people have sustained minor injuries, one of whom is a minor who was transported to a hospital. In response, the Junta de Andalucía has maintained the Emergency Plan for seismic risk in emergency phase, operational situation 1.
Local institutions have adopted immediate preventive measures. Both the Provincial Council of Granada and the Granada City Council have ordered the closure of their administrative buildings, museums, and sports facilities to the public for the remainder of the day, ensuring only the operation of emergency services and essential care.
Material damage has been reported in various areas, including falling debris and trees in the Zaidín neighborhood, as well as the temporary evacuation of the Nevada Shopping center in Armilla.
