The PSOE of Granada has celebrated the approval by the Government of Spain of a historic investment for dependency care, which will bring an additional 130 million euros to the province. This measure, which guarantees 50% state funding for the system, complements the reform of the Law on Promotion of Personal Autonomy and Care for Dependency.
Congresswoman Olvido de la Rosa and Andalusian parliamentarian Olga Manzano explained that the goal is for "no one to have their life project limited by needing support" and for rights not to depend on postal code or family's economic capacity. State funding for dependency will increase from 5.514 billion euros this year to 7.239 billion by 2027.
It was recalled that dependency funding under the PP was around 1.5 billion euros, while under the current Executive it will be "practically multiplied by five". This reform aims to expand rights, reduce bureaucracy, and improve care, ensuring unprecedented funding.
For her part, Olga Manzano noted that Andalusia will receive 954 million euros more, "double" that of previous years. She urged the Andalusian government, led by Moreno Bonilla, to provide the other 50% of funding without user co-payments, to address the more than 6,000 Granadinos on the waiting list and reduce the 457 days of delay in processing.
Manzano also called for accelerating the delivery of aid to people with dependency grade III+, such as those affected by ALS, and criticized the imposition of co-payments for these individuals, calling it "inhumane".
The socialist parliamentarian concluded by asking Moreno Bonilla to "abandon political confrontation" and leverage this funding to "rescue dependency in Andalusia from the barbarity and collapse" it has been subjected to.
