“"The Spanish Government has articulated an unprecedented response to support the agricultural sector, mobilizing extraordinary resources for farmers and livestock breeders in an area that falls under the competence of the autonomous communities. Never before has a response of this magnitude been articulated to support those who have suffered the consequences of an exceptional situation like the one caused by the storms last winter."

More than 7,200 farmers and livestock breeders in the province of Granada have already received close to 74 million euros from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food as compensation for damages suffered due to the storms last winter.
These extraordinary aid measures, promoted by the Spanish Government, have benefited holders of exploitations in 75 municipalities of Granada in this initial phase. The list of beneficiaries will be expanded in the coming months, as part of a program with a total allocation of 2.12 billion euros.
The municipality of Montefrío has the highest number of beneficiaries in this initial phase, with 1,418 farmers and breeders receiving over 14 million euros. It is followed by Loja, with 1,105 beneficiaries and almost 13 million; Íllora, with 675 beneficiaries and around six million; Algarinejo, with 562 beneficiaries and over 5.3 million; and Moclín, with 484 beneficiaries and 3.79 million euros.
The Deputy Government Delegate in Granada, José Antonio Montilla, highlighted the Executive's commitment to the primary sector, acting swiftly to ensure the viability of affected exploitations and contribute to the economic recovery of rural Granada. He emphasized the "imprescindibility" of offering support to farmers whose harvests were diminished and whose exploitations suffered damage.
