The Granada Metro service will conclude its latest announced partial strikes this Wednesday, but the lack of agreement between workers and the company Avanza, the service concessionaire, leaves negotiations at a standstill. Daniel Mesa, the general secretary of CCOO Granada, stated that the last mediation session at the Sercla did not result in a pact between the two parties.
According to the union, the possibility of "continuing with mobilizations" in September is on the table if the company does not make an "effort for equalization" in the form of a "collective agreement". Mesa has called for institutional intervention, criticizing that politicians from the Junta de Andalucía "have turned their backs until now".
The union representative hopes that the Consejería de Fomento will meet with the works committee on September 1st to try and unblock the situation, arguing that they are responsible for the provision of this public service, regardless of its tender.
This labor conflict has included 11 days of partial strikes in the first half of July, adding to five days of mobilizations in May that culminated in a total strike with minimum services. Positions remained distant, and the service was affected during the Corpus Christi festivities.
