The province of Granada has seen the installation of a total of 2,496 new climate control elements in its educational centers, as part of the Thermal Comfort Plan promoted by the Regional Government of Andalusia. The territorial delegate for Educational Development and Vocational Training, María José Martín, visited the IES Hispanidad in Santa Fe to oversee the actions, accompanied by the mayor, Juan Cobo Ortiz.
The majority of interventions, 1,785 in total, have focused on installing ventilation and air conditioning systems. The remainder are distributed among 116 windows and enclosures for improved insulation, 123 exterior shading structures such as awnings and porches, 304 radiators, and the planting of 132 trees to create green areas and natural shade.
This plan, aimed at the thermal comfort of public educational centers, represents an investment of 5.9 million euros and benefits 423 educational centers spread across 137 municipalities in Granada. The extraordinary investment aims to ensure the quality and comprehensive well-being of students and teachers, creating learning spaces where extreme temperatures do not hinder educational activities.
The measure is complemented by the Ministry's Bioclimatization Plan, which is currently in its second phase in three centers in the province with a budget of 1.2 million euros, adding to previous actions worth nearly 5.4 million. The total investment in climate control and bioclimatization for Granada's educational centers amounts to 12.6 million euros.
A notable innovation of the Thermal Comfort Plan is the direct transfer of funds to the beneficiary centers, allowing for agile and simplified execution. Each management team has been able to adapt interventions to the specific needs of their center, with allocated amounts varying by size, averaging around 15,500 euros and reaching up to 60,000 euros for larger centers.
“"A comfortable educational center is a fairer center. We will continue working so that every classroom in Granada is a place where one can learn and teach with comfort, health, and a future."
