This project, which began in April and has an execution budget of 781,735.82 euros, is part of Granada's Water Resilience Plan. The intervention will allow water to be lifted from one of the main arteries of the supply network to the Cartuja reservoirs, establishing an alternative route that increases security against potential incidents.
The infrastructure includes the installation of three electromechanical pumps, each with 150 kilowatts of power, capable of delivering approximately 200 liters per second per pump. To ensure electrical operation, a new transformation center with a power of 600 kVA has also been built.
Currently, the northern area of Granada is supplied through the Generalife and Cartuja canals, concrete conduits that, although operational, are somewhat old and could be affected in emergency situations. This new pumping station acts as a preventive measure to improve supply guarantee and provide greater solidity to the hydraulic system in this part of the capital.
The intervention increases the reliability of the supply and prevents potential shortages in the event of any incident in the existing canals. Furthermore, it will facilitate inspection, rehabilitation, and maintenance work on these infrastructures without compromising the supply to citizens.
