The race, scheduled for May 16, will take participants through the streets of the Granadan capital, covering a distance of 5,091 meters for the adult category, in homage to the police emergency telephone number. In addition to the main competition, 200 spots out of 1,500 available have been reserved for children, ensuring a family-friendly and festive day.
The event will feature a playful and festive atmosphere, including an exhibition of equipment and materials from the National Police between the adult and children's races. The route will be circular, starting and finishing at the Paseo del Salón, and participants will receive a traditional runner's bag and have access to a refreshment zone.
The proceeds from this edition will be entirely donated to the Asociación por la Sonrisa de Elenita y la cura del IRF2BPL, joining the causes sponsored in the previous six editions. The total amount raised by the 'Ruta 091' in Granada in past years exceeds 47,000 euros, demonstrating the community's commitment to solidarity.
Those who wish to contribute without participating in the race can do so through a voluntary 'Dorsal 0' donation via the event's website. The registration fee for all categories is 15 euros.
The funds raised will finance three lines of research. One, led by the Murcian Institute for Biosanitary Research Pascual Parrilla at the University of Murcia, focuses on finding drugs for the disease. Another, developed by the Berlin Institute for Medical System Biology, studies the disease using stem cells. Finally, the Pfizer Center for Genomics and Oncological Research, linked to the University of Granada, leads a project with two lines: one to search for potential drugs and another to identify new therapeutic targets by studying proteins and their interaction with the IRF2BPL gene.
