Granada once again rolled out the red carpet for a cinematic event with the premiere of 'Enlorquecido: solo el misterio nos hace vivir', a documentary by artist Miguel Poveda. The screening took place in the Manuel de Falla hall of the Palacio de Congresos, bringing together authorities, cultural figures, and citizens. This film, set to hit cinemas on April 23, offers Poveda's personal insight into the figure of Federico García Lorca, covering his life, legacy, and the places that shaped his journey.
At the end of the screening, Miguel Poveda surprised attendees with a significant proposal: the installation of a statue of Federico García Lorca in the Fuente de las Batallas, a central point in Granada. This initiative aims for the poet's hometown to continuously honor him, as reported by Abdi Group.
Enlorquecido” is not a conventional tribute. It lacks the aseptic distance of an archival documentary or the imposed solemnity of an official portrait. What Miguel Poveda proposes is something else: a journey.
The documentary, with a screenplay by Alberto Conejero and the voice of Juan Echanove interpreting the poet, goes beyond the usual spaces associated with Lorca. It includes a journey through places like Granada, Madrid, Cadaqués, Montevideo, and Havana, and delves into lesser-known aspects of his life, such as a visit to Santander, where the remains of Rafael Rodríguez Rapún, the poet's last partner, rest.
The mayor of Granada, Marifrán Carazo, who attended the event, highlighted the documentary's importance for the city, especially in the context of Granada's bid to become the European Capital of Culture in 2031. The premiere was attended by representatives from the Diputación de Granada and the Junta de Andalucía, as well as mayors from Lorca-related municipalities such as Fuente Vaqueros, Valderrubio, and Alfacar.
The event also brought together prominent figures from Granada's cultural scene, including Marina Heredia, Jaime "el Parrón", Eva Yerbabuena, Curro Albayzín, Mariquilla, and Mariola Cantarero, in addition to Lorca expert Antonina Rodrigo. The organization and sponsorship of the event were handled by the Granada-based company APDI Group, led by Ana Polo and Juan Antonio Rosado.
