Starting this Friday, the province of Granada is hosting a crucial forum to address vicarious violence, one of the most brutal forms of gender-based violence. The Maracena Municipal Theater is the venue for the V Meeting on Vicarious Violence and Institutional Gender Violence, an event supported by high-level government figures, including the Ministers of Equality and Youth and Childhood.
The congress, which will run until Saturday, is promoted by the State Coordinator for the Eradication of Vicarious Violence and Institutional Gender Violence. Its main objective is to transform existing regulations into real and effective protection for victims.
“"The meeting focuses on making visible and combating this extreme violence in which the aggressor uses children to inflict the greatest possible harm on the mother, also analyzing its link with institutional gender violence."
The working sessions focus on three essential pillars: the effective application of protection laws, the proposal for a new specific Organic Law on Vicarious Violence, and the improvement of the current Organic Law for the Comprehensive Protection of Children and Adolescents against Violence (LOPIVI), aiming to safeguard the voice of minors in judicial proceedings.
The congress adopts a multidisciplinary approach, bringing together experts and professionals from the judiciary, healthcare, and social work. This diversity of perspectives seeks to outline a comprehensive roadmap that strengthens the protection of women and their children against this issue.
