This event, considered one of the most significant scientific gatherings in the field of linguistics in Spain, solidifies Granada's position as an international reference point for linguistic research. The congress will be held under the theme 'Language, variation and identity: linguistic dynamics to represent identity'.
The University of Granada (UGR) highlighted that the congress aims to reflect on how language shapes contemporary societies. In an increasingly diverse and interconnected global context, applied linguistics offers crucial tools to analyze how linguistic changes influence the construction of identities and communities.
The scientific program includes ten thematic panels and four plenary lectures delivered by renowned researchers. Additionally, numerous parallel sessions will feature presentations of research papers. Areas to be covered include computational linguistics and natural language processing, sociolinguistics, translation and interpretation, language teaching and acquisition, and psycholinguistics.
The meeting seeks to foster academic dialogue and promote new perspectives on the role of language in society. The sessions will primarily take place at the Higher Technical School of Civil Engineering of the University of Granada, which serves as the event's headquarters.
The congress's organizing committee is comprised of faculty from the UGR's Department of Spanish Language. In addition to academic sessions, the event will feature cultural and social activities, such as a guided tour of Granada's historic center, a welcome reception in the Albaicín, and a gala dinner at the Palacio de Santa Paula.
The Spanish Association of Applied Linguistics (Aesla) brings together researchers from various study areas related to language, and its annual congress is one of the main scientific forums for the interdisciplinary analysis of language.
