The Mayor of Granada, Marifrán Carazo, and the Deputy for Tourism, Marta Nievas, have reached an agreement with Iberia to establish new flight schedules between Granada and Madrid starting in November, enhancing the province's connectivity.
The City Council of Granada, the Provincial Council, and Iberia have formalized an agreement to optimize the flight schedules on the Granada-Madrid route. This initiative aims to boost arrivals in the Spanish capital during strategic times for provincial development and strengthen international connections.
The pact was sealed after a meeting held this Tuesday in Madrid, attended by the Mayor of Granada, Marifrán Carazo, the Provincial Deputy for Tourism, Marta Nievas, and Iberia's General Director of Global Sales, Víctor Moneo Ocaña.
Starting in November, the new schedule will include flights arriving in Madrid on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 09:30 AM. This measure addresses a crucial demand from the province's economic and social sectors, solidifying its position as a strategic destination. Additionally, the Friday flight will be maintained, and the Monday flight will depart from Granada at 09:15 AM.

"The joint work of the Diputación de Granada and the City Council is bearing fruit. We are going to improve the early morning connection, also allowing us to connect with those international connections, especially with Asia, Latin America, and the United States. Our will, as we have expressed, is to continue working to advance in improving connections. We will continue collaborating together to offer better schedules and better connections."
This improvement not only strengthens the direct connection with Madrid but also facilitates international links through the capital's airport. This expands connection options to direct destinations, some with multiple daily frequencies, such as New York, Mexico City, or Buenos Aires.

"An important new step, after months of work and listening to both the tourism sector and the business sector. We continue to advance and commit to improving our airport's connections."
These new schedules are the result of a previous formal request, sent by letter by Carazo and the President of the Provincial Council, Francis Rodríguez, to the airline, highlighting the need to reinforce this vital connection for the province.
