The persistent heatwave will keep Granada on alert in the coming days, with weather forecasts indicating a rise in temperatures, even surpassing weekend records in some areas. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) predicts this extreme heat episode will last at least until mid-week, affecting a large part of the Granadan territory and making nighttime rest difficult due to high minimum temperatures.
The capital city of Granada will experience a particularly hot start to the week, with highs around 40 degrees on Monday and remaining near 39 degrees on Wednesday. These figures confirm the continuation of the heatwave, which continues to deliver fully summery days. Nights will also be challenging, with minimums offering little relief and maintaining a constant high thermal sensation.
The Western Granada region will be one of the most affected areas. In Loja, highs of up to 41 degrees and lows of 23 degrees are expected, surpassing weekend values and solidifying the town as one of the hottest spots in the province at the very beginning of the summer season.
The Tropical Coast will not escape the thermal rise either. Despite the influence of sea breezes, temperatures are expected to reach 35 degrees on Monday and Tuesday, and up to 36 degrees on Wednesday. This is a notable increase that will be felt in municipalities like Motril, making the atmosphere warmer than usual even by the sea.
In the north of the province, Baza will record maximum temperatures of up to 37 degrees, with milder lows around 17 degrees, maintaining a persistent heat situation similar to that observed over the weekend.
Forecasts suggest the extreme heat episode will begin to subside from Thursday onwards, with a gradual decrease in temperatures, although a sharp drop is not expected. Until then, Granada will remain immersed in an intense heatwave that has arrived with force at the start of summer.
