The event, which will span eleven days in the city center, has started its activities with a strong focus on promoting reading, creativity, and intercultural knowledge. Among the highlighted proposals, the Euro-Arab Foundation for Higher Studies is conducting the workshop 'Learn an Ancient Script: The Language of the Amazigh (Berbers)' at the Andalucía Pavilion.
This participatory experience allows Primary and ESO students to discover the 'Tifinagh' alphabet and approach the richness of indigenous languages, in line with the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (2022-2032). Participants can write their names in this script and learn about 'Tamazight' through games and practical exercises.
The school program also includes the awarding of the Prize for the artistic-literary competition 'Literature Turned into Music, the Creative Universe of Manuel de Falla', organized by the Territorial Delegation for Educational Development and Vocational Training. This contest commemorates the 150th anniversary of the birth of the renowned Spanish and Andalusian musician.
In the afternoon, the fair opens its doors to a more diverse audience with spaces for reflection and dialogue. The Provincial Library hosts the round table 'Challenges and Realities of Youth Reading in 2026', where specialists analyze young people's reading habits in the digital age. Also featured is the presentation of the poetry collection Ensueños Desafinados by Raquel Matarán, and an international reading club centered on the work A Mask the Color of the Sky by Palestinian writer Basim Khandaqji.
Scientific dissemination maintains a central role with talks such as 'Who Wants to Be… from Graná?' and 'Granada in 5 Years… and Recipes for Scientific Talent: Geniuses or Stubborn?', with the participation of CSIC researchers. The day culminates in the Patio del Ayuntamiento de Granada with the official proclamation by writer, professor, and poet Álvaro Salvador, followed by the presentation of the Granada Book Fair Award, which this year recognizes Granada's candidacy as a finalist for the European Capital of Culture 2031.
