The city of Granada will host, from this Wednesday until next Saturday, the first International Culture and Cooperation Meeting. This event will bring together representatives from Unesco associations and clubs, university chairs, affiliated entities, and civil society members from various countries.
During the program presentation, the Government's sub-delegate in Granada, José Antonio Montilla, highlighted the importance of "strengthening spaces for international cooperation and networking from institutional and civil society spheres to address global challenges such as inequality, sustainability, or the defense of human rights." He also recalled Granada's historical connection with Unesco through Francisco Mayor.
Heidi Zahn, president of the Mujeres ODS Association, emphasized the meeting's value as "an opportunity to generate international alliances through culture, equality, and cooperation, positioning Granada as a meeting point for initiatives committed to Unesco's values".
For his part, Ángel Bañuelos, president of the Association of Andalusia for Unesco, highlighted the "varied and fully aligned" program with Unesco's principles and values, noting participation from countries such as Belarus, Italy, Portugal, Tunisia, and Romania.
The initiative is driven by Mujeres ODS (MODS), the Unesco Chair of Sustainable Development and Environment, the Association of Andalusia for Unesco, and the Association for Unesco of Melilla, with the collaboration of the Granada City Council, the Spanish National Commission for Cooperation with Unesco, and the University of Granada.
The program will take place in emblematic spaces of Granada and will include round tables, conferences, and meetings focused on culture, equality, human rights, and Sustainable Development Goals, as well as cultural activities and heritage visits. The institutional inauguration at the Carmen de los Mártires and working sessions with the Unesco Civil Network are particularly noteworthy.
Within the framework of the forum, the 'Granada Declaration for Networking in Favor of Unesco's Values and Principles' will be presented, a document reaffirming the participating organizations' commitment to education, culture, equality, science, and communication.
