Fampa Alhambra has expressed its support for the AMPA Gonzalo Gallas of IES Padre Manjón, questioning the administrative decision to reduce the first-year Baccalaureate lines from four to three. The federation believes this measure does not align with the principles of equity, equal opportunities, and quality of the public education system.
According to a press release, the reduction in lines is generating significant negative consequences for students, families, and the public education system itself. Among the problems identified, the federation highlights the increase in student-to-teacher ratios, exceeding regulatory limits and hindering educational attention.
“"The existence of high ratios, reaching figures higher than those established by regulations, severely hinders educational attention and the quality of teaching."
Furthermore, the measure creates an unfair disadvantage for students at the center in their preparation for higher education and limits the educational continuity of students from the institute itself and its affiliated centers. The situation is particularly critical for the International Baccalaureate, as IES Padre Manjón is the only public center in the province offering this program, and the reduction compromises its viability.
For all these reasons, Fampa Alhambra joins the request of the center's educational community and urges the Educational Administration to reconsider the decision and reinstate the fourth Baccalaureate line, in order to ensure adequate student care and maintain a quality public educational offer in Granada.
