The Teatro Alhambra, a cultural venue of the Junta de Andalucía in Granada, has unveiled its new stage season, scheduled from October to May. The program will feature 43 companies and offer a total of 71 performances, encompassing a wide range of disciplines including theater, dance, circus, music, puppetry, object theater, and visual creation.
The season kicks off on October 16th with the play Tres noches en Ítaca, by playwright Alberto Conejero from Jaén. The program aims to highlight the diversity of stage languages and place special emphasis on Andalusian talent, integrating local creation with national and international trends.
At the presentation, the territorial delegate for Culture and Sport of the Junta de Andalucía in Granada, Luis Recuerda, underscored the theater's commitment to a plural contemporary scene, while the manager of the Agencia Andaluza de Instituciones Culturales, Javier Rivera, highlighted the space's educational and cultural mediation dimension.
The 26/27 season will include 17 Andalusian companies, 21 from other national territories, and five international ones, positioning Andalusian creation at around 40 percent of the programmed companies. Names such as Isabel Vázquez, María del Mar Suárez ‘La Chachi’, Maui de Utrera, Las Niñas de Cádiz, Titiritrán, Claroscuro Teatro, Proyecto Kavauri, Los Feos Teatro, and Larisa Ramos are part of this initiative.
The detailed program includes productions like Zambra de la buena salvaje by Isabel Vázquez, Mahmud y no solo Mahmud by Puntocero Company, El invencible verano de Liliana, Historia del amor by Agrupación Señor Serrano, and Vendrán los alienígenas y tendrán tus ojos by María Velasco. Works such as Macbeth by Teatro Clásico de Sevilla and Divinas palabras by Atalaya will also be presented.
Puppet, object, and visual theater will have its space through the 28th International Festival of Theater with Puppets, Objects, and Visuals (FITTOV), featuring productions like Malena Ballena by Titiritrán and La niña que salvará nuestro mundo by Claroscuro Teatro.
The Teatro Alhambra also reinforces its public creation initiatives with school performances and cultural mediation programs, in collaboration with various institutions. General admission tickets will be priced at 20 euros, with reduced rates and season tickets available.
