The Provincial Chess Circuit resumes its activity in the province of Granada this 2026, after six years without being held. The planned calendar includes 11 tournaments that will take place between July and November in different municipalities of Granada.
The initiative, organized by the Provincial Council in collaboration with the host town halls and the Andalusian Chess Federation, aims to promote values such as concentration, effort, respect, and coexistence. The objective is to offer a quality competition accessible to anyone, regardless of their place of residence.
The circuit, which began on July 12 in Padul, will continue its tour through locations such as Deifontes (July 21), Bubión (August 16), Guadix (August 23), Atarfe (September 6), Gualchos (September 13), Motril (October 4), La Zubia (October 12), Pampaneira (November 8), Cijuela (November 15), and will conclude on November 22 in Castilléjar, the venue for the awards ceremony and closing gala.
Each tournament will be valid for the ELO system of the Andalusian Chess Federation and will be open to participants of all ages, sexes, and nationalities, with an initial limit of 120 players per venue. Nine categories are contemplated, from Under-8 to General, in addition to the Women's, Local, and Over 50 categories.
The tournaments will be played under the Swiss system with seven rounds, at a playing rate of eight minutes plus a three-second increment per move. For the final classification, the six best results of each participant will be considered, and the closing event will award double points. Under-8 players will receive a commemorative medal.
