The organization Ecologists in Action has expressed its support for the motion that the Popular Party will present in the Granada City Council to restrict the installation of large photovoltaic plants in rural areas, seeking to preserve the environmental and cultural value of the region.
The environmental movement has shown its backing for the PP's initiative, which will be debated in the municipal Plenary Session. Although they consider the proposal “late,” they welcome it, suggesting it might be motivated by the upcoming elections.

"We know that elections are coming soon and perhaps with this they intend to gain a few more votes, but the public's memory is not that short."
The organization recalls that citizen opposition, with the support of various entities and parties, already managed to halt a photovoltaic plant project in the El Fargue neighborhood. In addition to solar installations, environmentalists also extend their concern to the proliferating biomethane megaplant projects in the province.
Furthermore, they urge the municipal government team to promote self-consumption and energy communities, allowing citizens, small and medium-sized enterprises, and local entities to produce and manage their own renewable energy. They also request investment in renewable energy in all public buildings and that the Provincial Council promote similar motions in the municipalities of Granada.

"We believe this is a good initiative and we will support it as long as it benefits the people of Granada, as long as it is implemented soon through the development of ordinances and their corresponding regulations, and does not remain another unfulfilled motion filed away."
