The Civil Guard has dismantled an operation that began in February following a report from the owner of a bonsai sales company, who reported the theft of seven specimens, one valued at 25,000 euros, with a total value of 35,000 euros. Investigations led officers to a property in Alhendín.
During the entry and search of the property on May 5th, the most valuable bonsai was recovered and identified by its owner. In the same search, officers discovered an indoor plantation with 216 cannabis sativa cuttings and over two kilograms of dried marijuana buds spread across two adjacent rooms.
In addition to the drugs and the bonsai, various objects and tools were seized whose origin could not be justified by the resident of the property. The operation was supported by agents from Citizen Security and the Investigation Area of the Civil Guard from Armilla and Las Gabias.
The detainee, allegedly responsible for three counts of aggravated theft and one of drug cultivation and processing, has been handed over to the Guardia Civil's Court of Instruction in Granada. To date, police investigations have linked him to a total of ten counts of aggravated theft across the province.
The Civil Guard is making the seized items available at the Armilla barracks for potential victims to identify. These include construction tools, electric machinery, fire extinguishers, and a metal detector, among other items.
