This budget allocation, part of the 2026 call for subsidies for the promotion of reading and Spanish literature, aims to strengthen reading habits through competitive bidding. Nationwide, the total amount of these grants reaches 3.6 million euros.
At the municipal level, the town councils of Albuñol, Huétor Santillán, Purullena, Santa Fe, and Vélez de Benaudalla have been selected as beneficiaries. These funds will support the development of literary festivals, book fairs, and specific cultural revitalization projects in their respective areas.
Additionally, the non-profit sector has received 40,000 euros to organize established events, such as the Granada International Comic Fair and the Granada International Poetry Festival. The private sector has also secured support for creative projects linked to literary dissemination.
The evaluation committee prioritized proposals with a direct impact on children and youth, as well as those fostering community synergies. Furthermore, the originality of the actions and their contribution to cultural commemorations were considered, with special emphasis on the centenary of the Generation of '27.
