The Andalucistas-Pueblo Andaluz coalition has selected Antonio Joya Valero to head its candidacy in the province of Granada for the upcoming Andalusian elections, scheduled for May 17. The party emphasizes his extensive experience in the business sector, his deep roots in the local economy, and his dedication to promoting mobility and services in rural areas.
At 65 years old and residing in Almuñécar, Antonio Joya is the managing owner of Grupo Joya, a company involved in various sectors such as real estate, passenger transport, and vehicle rental. His experience also extends to business associations in the transport industry, where he has held significant positions.
“"He represents a way of understanding Andalusian identity through utility, hard work, and the defense of those who sustain Andalusia's real economy every day."
Currently, Joya presides over the Federación Empresarial del Taxi Rural de Andalucía, which brings together professionals from municipalities across the region, excluding provincial capitals. He also leads the taxi employers' association in Almuñécar and La Herradura. Furthermore, he is a member of Convergencia Andaluza, a party with a strong municipalist tradition on the Granada coast.
Andalucistas states that Joya's selection aims to bring voices with practical experience in productive economy, territorial management, and the defense of essential sectors for the daily lives of many municipalities into the Andalusian debate. The coalition believes that Granada, despite its diversity and potential, suffers from internal imbalances and a lack of a coherent provincial strategy.
Antonio Joya's candidacy will prioritize improving communications, strengthening connections between regions, and ensuring that economic development is not concentrated solely in specific hubs, leaving behind other areas of the province with great productive and human value. A fundamental pillar will be the defense of mobility as an essential service for territorial balance, especially in rural areas where public transport is often insufficient or nonexistent.
