Adelante Andalucía has launched its campaign for the upcoming 2027 municipal elections, with the firm intention of securing representation in the Granada City Council. This political move follows their recent regional election results, where the party successfully mobilized the left-wing electorate and secured a seat in the Andalusian Parliament.
The party's local assembly, held at the Sostiene Pereira bookstore—an establishment previously sanctioned by the council—served as the starting point for designing a strategy focused on building a participatory candidacy. The goal is to address the real needs of residents, with a particular emphasis on housing access, promoting sustainable mobility, strengthening public services, revitalizing cultural life, and combating over-tourism.
Inmaculada Manzano, newly elected regional deputy for Granada, expressed her enthusiasm for the launch of this local project, highlighting the "super interesting" proposals for the city. Meanwhile, Néstor Salvador, organizational secretary and member of the local assembly, criticized the city model promoted by the People's Party municipal government, led by Marifrán Carazo. Salvador argued that this approach is displacing residents and turning Granada into a "theme park" through over-tourism and gentrification.
Salvador called for neighborhood organization to present an alternative to the current municipal government. "Granada needs a change from Marifrán Carazo's policies," he stated, adding that they seek "a new city model so we can live with dignified housing, dignified education, and for Granada to be a cultural benchmark for its neighborhoods and artists, not the theme park the PP is turning our city into." He stressed the need to prevent vulture funds and banks from continuing to displace residents from their neighborhoods.
Extrapolating regional results to the 2027 municipal elections suggests that Adelante Andalucía could secure two council seats in the Granada City Council. Although electoral behavior in municipal elections differs from regional ones, this projection serves as an indicator of the party's momentum. A council with five political forces is anticipated, including Adelante Andalucía and Por Andalucía each with two councilors, while the PP, PSOE, and Vox are also expected to have representation.
