The Granada Metro staff have called for partial strikes on four key days of the Corpus Christi festivities, demanding salary improvements and dignified working conditions. The Ministry of Employment has set minimum services at 60% after evaluating proposals from the company and workers.
The strikes will be distributed across different time slots: May 30 (8:00 PM - 1:00 AM), coinciding with the Fair's opening; June 2 (6:00 PM - 8:30 PM); June 3, La Tarasca day (1:00 PM - 3:30 PM and 9:30 PM - 11:59 PM); and June 6 (1:00 PM - 3:30 PM).
These minimum services will apply to drivers, station personnel, supervisors, and operations technicians. Office and customer service staff will be maintained at a minimum level to ensure essential service operation. Trains in service at the start of the strike will complete their route to the nearest terminal, following management's instructions to avoid disruptions to traffic and user safety.
Granada's metro 'continues to be the Andalusian metro with the worst salary conditions'
The works committee of Avanza Metro Granada criticizes that salary conditions in Granada are the worst in Andalusia and considers the proposed 23.5% salary increase, to be applied over four years, to be insufficient. For its part, Avanza defends its "negotiating effort" and calls the mobilization call "precipitated," initiated after discussions on the new agreement began on March 18.
