CD Castellar Íbero has clinched the Group II Second Andaluza title and promotion to Primera Andaluza, outperforming CD Quesada on goal difference after a captivating season.

The battle for the championship in Group II of Second Andaluza was one of the most fiercely contested in the category. CD Castellar Íbero, from the town of Castellar, secured the title and promotion to Primera Andaluza, an achievement decided by their superior overall goal difference against their main rival, CD Quesada. The decisive victory came in the penultimate league match, played at the San Benito stadium, which many considered an early final.
Matías Sánchez, the coach of the Castellar team, highlighted the significance of this promotion to the highest provincial category. Speaking to Jaén Hoy, Sánchez emphasized the value of collective effort: "Having the luck to win a league and achieve promotion is something many players never accomplish. We must value it for the work of my squad and the board of directors."

Matías Sánchez · CD Castellar Íbero Coach
The coach, who joined CD Castellar Íbero last summer, has an extensive career as a player in the province of Jaén. After retiring two seasons ago to manage Atlético Sabiote, he accepted the "personal challenge" of leading the Castellar team. The CD Castellar Íbero squad is characterized by combining the experience of veterans such as Branco (former Real Jaén player), Antonio, Pichi, Alcázar, Lendi, and goal-scorer Miguel Ruiz, with the talent of young prospects like Andrés Ballesteros, the group's top scorer with 22 goals.
The title race was intense, with both teams arriving at the penultimate match tied on 44 points. The need to win was paramount for CD Castellar Íbero, especially after the withdrawal of Realeb, CD Quesada's opponent in the final matchday. Matías Sánchez confessed to experiencing a mix of excitement and nervousness the night before the decisive game, similar to his playing days. CD Castellar Íbero won 2-1, with goals from Andrés Ballesteros and Miguel Ruiz, although José María's goal for CD Quesada kept the excitement alive until the final matchday by leveling the head-to-head goal average.
Despite a loss in the final league match against Huesa (3-1), CD Castellar Íbero maintained their superior overall goal average (+27 compared to CD Quesada's +23), thus securing the championship. The team returns to Primera Andaluza after six seasons, an achievement in which the fans played a crucial role, acting as the "12th player" for the team. Now, the club is focusing on the Copa Subdelegado del Gobierno, where they will seek a historic double in a group stage featuring local derbies against CF Santisteban del Puerto, CD Arquillos, and CD Sorihuela del Guadalimar.
