The Rural Development Groups (GDRs) of Cuenca Minera de Riotinto, Condado de Huelva, and Corredor de la Plata have presented a joint proposal for the recovery of areas affected by the Niebla fire.

These three entities have made their experience, network, and deep knowledge of the territory available to public administrations and citizens. The goal is to help mitigate the damages caused by the incident and strengthen the local economy, social cohesion, and resilience of the impacted zones.
During a meeting held in Gerena, the headquarters of GDR Corredor de la Plata, technical and presidential representatives from the three organizations emphasized the need for a coordinated, long-term response. They highlighted that while administrations possess the necessary competencies and resources, the territories have close and consolidated structures like the GDRs, which maintain an extensive network of relationships with municipalities, businesses, associations, farmers, ranchers, and social organizations.
The GDRs' constant presence on the ground allows them to understand the needs of the villages firsthand and maintain direct contact with their inhabitants and workers. Therefore, they play a crucial role as a link between administrations and the affected population, facilitating needs identification, channeling demands, connecting resources, and supporting actions to ensure recovery measures effectively reach the territory.
It was stressed that collaboration among administrations, local entities, the business sector, and the population will be fundamental in the coming months. The three Rural Development Groups have expressed their firm commitment to being part of this collective response and working together to build a recovery process that includes the active participation of individuals and entities directly linked to these territories.
