The alert, which includes on-the-ground information from Civil Protection, Guardia Civil, and Local Police, was communicated by the Minister of Presidency, Health, and Emergencies, Antonio Sanz, via the social network X (formerly Twitter). Sanz urged the affected population to follow instructions and exercise extreme caution.
Junta President Juanma Moreno also commented on the same social network, highlighting the complexity of the Niebla wildfire and the successive wind changes, which do not permit "any carelessness." He emphasized, "Safety comes first."
The Es-Alert was issued towards the end of a day considered critical, with concerns escalating. The flames have spread over 4,000 hectares, driven by changing winds that have challenged firefighting strategies and necessitated reinforcements.
The deployment of the Military Emergencies Unit (UME) has been increased to a total of 250 military personnel and 100 resources. The UME was requested the previous night as the situation worsened, with an initial deployment of 130 personnel and approximately 60 support vehicles.
Prior to the Es-Alert activation, 75 homes, mostly second residences, had already been evacuated, affecting around 70 people. The majority have managed their own accommodation, while five individuals have been rehoused in a hotel.
