Ecologistas en Acción has alerted about the persistence of forest fires in Doñana National Park, which are being maintained under the ground surface due to the presence of peatlands and leaf litter.

The organization Ecologistas en Acción has expressed concern over the forest fires in Doñana National Park, specifically in the Almonte area. They indicate that the fire may continue to be active beneath the ground's surface, a situation exacerbated by the presence of peatlands and a large amount of pine leaf litter.
Recently, two fire outbreaks were initiated near the Vereda de Sanlúcar: one in Corral de Félix, extinguished within approximately six hours by the INFOCA device, and another in Paraje La Algaida, which remains active and has already affected over 100 hectares. These incidents occurred hours after the Brotherhoods from the province of Cádiz had traveled along this path.
Environmentalists highlight that this region registers a high number of fire outbreaks and incidents annually, both in the Huelva and Seville parts. They reference last year's major fire in Las Peñuelas, which devastated more than 8,000 hectares of the park.
The organization warns that the Rocío pilgrimage transit and vehicle permits in the area increase annually, which, in the event of a fire, could leave thousands of people stranded and compromise their safety, despite the police and environmental deployment.
Given this situation, Ecologistas en Acción will request the Andalusian Government to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, considering that "it seems clear that it was not a natural cause." They will also urge the administration to invest in the comprehensive forest management of Doñana's ecosystem, removing dry pines and forestry work debris from the Doñana Natural Area.
