The Almonte Town Hall has secured an unprecedented subsidy of 23.7 million euros for the repair of infrastructure damaged by recent storms.

The amount, the largest ever received by the council, will be allocated to key areas including the Matalascañas Promenade, schools, public buildings, and rural roads, as well as improving rainwater drainage systems.
Mayor Francisco Bella highlighted that this resolution is the result of efforts by the governing team and municipal technicians to document the damage and prepare the funding application. He emphasized that this aid is "the most important subsidy this Town Hall has ever received" and will address needs across the municipality's three main areas.
The primary investment, amounting to 12.5 million euros, will go towards the Matalascañas Promenade, with works now "practically completed." This funding is crucial for restoring this "essential infrastructure" for local tourism and the economy.
The subsidy also includes upgrades to drainage systems to prevent water accumulation during heavy rainfall, with new collectors planned for Matalascañas and various parts of Almonte such as Los Cabezudos, La Ribera, La Lapa, and El Pocito.
The funds, provided by a Spanish Government program for local entities affected by storms, rain, and floods between November 2025 and February 2026, must be used exclusively for the approved projects. The total granted amount is exactly 23,765,160 euros.
Bella expressed gratitude for the central Government's aid and praised the Town Hall's "key work" in securing these funds, viewing the investment as an opportunity to strengthen municipal infrastructure and enhance public spaces, facilities, and essential services for residents.
