The fire, declared in the Almonte area, has led the Plan Romero to reorganize the return itineraries for the Cádiz brotherhoods. The Operations Committee agreed to partially modify the return routes due to the proximity of ongoing firefighting efforts.
The main change involves dividing traffic: brotherhoods using mechanical vehicles will travel along the beach, while those with animal traction will use the road. The usual departure and arrival order will be maintained.
The operation, coordinated by the Regional Emergency Agency of Andalucía, the Civil Guard, and the National Park, has been adopted as a preventive measure to avoid interference with the work of EMA Infoca.
The Regional Government of Andalucía has stressed that the priority is to ensure the safety of pilgrims without excessively disrupting the normal progression of the return journeys, offering logistical and organizational alternatives.
Road return will also be facilitated for pilgrims choosing to leave the village by conventional vehicles. Despite the changes, the initial forecast remains that all Cádiz brotherhoods will begin their return between Wednesday and Thursday.
“"The brotherhoods attending the meeting also expressed their gratitude to the emergency services for the swift design of this alternative, which will allow safety to be maintained without completely altering the course of the Rocío journeys."
