The Ruiz Tatay Theater in Zalamea la Real is hosting, from April 11 to 19, the third artistic residency of the fourth edition of Bailando en Plata. This program, promoted by the Andalusian Association of Dance Companies and Professionals with the support of the Ministry of Culture, aims to bring creative processes closer to rural environments.
Creators Charo Martín and Olga Santín are developing the project Lahparda, a proposal that investigates the relationship between voice and movement based on elements of local folklore. These include the sung Rosary, fandangos, and sevillanas pardas, taking the Esquila, the bell that accompanies the Rosary rondalla, as a symbolic reference.
This initiative is part of a program that promotes artistic residencies as a sustainable support model for creators and municipalities, fostering exchange between artists and the territory. Zalamea la Real is the third town in Huelva to host this proposal, after its passage through Aracena and Cortegana, consolidating its role in a circuit that has also toured various locations in Andalusia and Extremadura.
During their stay, the artists have carried out activities open to local participation, such as the workshop Lahparda. Voice, body, space and movement, and have met with the bell-ringing group Amigos del Rosario, one of the oldest manifestations in the municipality.
To conclude the residency, a public exhibition of the developed work will take place on Saturday, April 18. The event will include a route from the Plaza de la Constitución to the Ruiz Tatay Theater, where the artists will share the results of their research with the attending public.
