Mateo J. Rodríguez welcomed attendees, congratulated the author, and emphasized the Library's role as a space open to local creators. "Presenting a book is not just about introducing a work, it's also about creating a meeting space between the author and the citizens and contributing to making reading a part of our daily lives," stated the councilor, highlighting the Delegation's commitment to literary creation linked to Isla Cristina.
Lourdes López Bermejo described Almeida as a native of the Punta del Caimán neighborhood, now residing in Huelva but maintaining a close connection with his hometown and the Municipal Library. She noted the author's long-standing relationship with the institution, to which he has donated copies of his works, and defined Ramón Almeida as a prolific and multifaceted author whose literary production spans genres such as history, spirituality, love, politics, and contemporary fiction.
The Library technician mentioned previous titles by the author, including Estarás conmigo en el paraíso, Hijos de la ira, Cuando florece el cerezo, Y la tierra fue segada, La muerte del candidato, Armagedón, and El viaje de tu sueño. Almeida, who uses his pseudonym for creative freedom, was born in January 1956 in Punta del Caimán and defines writing as a therapeutic refuge for transforming life experiences into literature.
The author explained that he resumed his literary activity in 2020, although he had completed novel drafts decades earlier. Cuando el amor llama por segunda vez originated from a dream experience, described as "a midsummer night's dream," which Almeida immediately began writing. The novel tells the story of David and Olivia, two New Yorkers bound by a love story marked by loss and second chances, following David's disappearance for two decades in the Amazon rainforest.
The work explores themes such as identity, loss, memory, love, and the possibility of starting anew. "It is a novel about second chances, about the light that returns after darkness, and about the beauty of starting over," stated Almeida, who shared a passage focusing on Olivia and her memories.
The event served to advocate for the Municipal Library's role in promoting literary creation. Mateo J. Rodríguez reiterated the Delegation's commitment to keeping municipal cultural spaces open to local creators, and Lourdes López expressed her satisfaction with the presentation. Ramón Almeida thanked the Ayuntamiento de Isla Cristina and the Library staff for making the event possible.
