The award, granted by the Andalusian Council of Official Colleges of Architects (CACOA), recognizes the initiative promoted for the heritage recovery of the Casa de Blas Infante, with a project developed by AHAUS Arquitectos.
Mayor Jenaro Orta, along with municipal Urban Planning technicians, accepted the award, emphasizing the importance of "a way of working from the public sector" with "rigor" and looking towards the city's future.
Orta extended the recognition to the municipal technical team, highlighting their "knowledge, dedication, and enormous responsibility" as key to transforming decisions into "good projects".
The recovery of the Casa de Blas Infante is part of the Integrated Action Plan (PAI) ‘Isla Cristina 2030. An Island of Care’, which aims for heritage recovery, urban regeneration, and improvement of public spaces.
This award coincides with a period of significant public investment in Isla Cristina, which will mobilize nearly 35 million euros between the PAI (co-financed with FEDER funds) and 28 strategic actions funded by the Spanish Government.
The mayor described this moment as "historic" for the city, a result of "planning and the work of municipal services," allowing them to address pending needs and prepare the city for the future.
For the City Council, the CACOA distinction validates urban management that integrates planning, technical criteria, and architectural quality, with a focus on improving Isla Cristina.
The intervention at the Casa de Blas Infante exemplifies this vision, revaluing a heritage element to return it to the citizens and enhance its cultural and tourist dimension.
