Isla Cristina has hosted the signing of agreements for the Rural Employment Promotion Program (PFEA) 2026. This initiative, driven by the Provincial Council of Huelva, aims to foster employment and improve the province's municipalities.
In the town, the program includes two main actions: the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Municipal Auditorium, located in Parque Central, and various security enhancements at the Civil Guard Barracks. These interventions will create a total of 64 jobs, including skilled workers and laborers.
The rehabilitation of the Municipal Auditorium, planned for five months, will focus on addressing leaks in the stage platform, adapting it with an accessible ramp and staircase, and renewing protection and safety elements. It will also include repairs to curbs, bleachers, and deteriorated pavements to improve its use and maintenance. This phase will require hiring 40 people (11 skilled workers and 29 laborers) and will be carried out between November 1, 2026, and March 31, 2027.
Furthermore, works at the Civil Guard Barracks, scheduled for three months, will involve raising the front and side enclosure pillars, modifying railings and the access gate for security reasons, and repairing walls and stairs. Cladding and flooring on the access stairs to the blocks will also be renovated with LED lighting. These tasks will continue efforts initiated in PFEA 2025 and will hire 24 people (6 skilled masons and 18 laborers) between November 1, 2026, and January 31, 2027.
Funding for these actions comes from the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), contributing 141,805.25 euros for labor, and from the Regional Government of Andalusia and the Provincial Council of Huelva, allocating 67,199.63 euros for materials and machinery (75% and 25% respectively).
The Provincial Council of Huelva plays a key role in the PFEA, providing financial, technical, and management support to municipalities for projects that combine employment creation with the improvement of public spaces and services. The Ayuntamiento de Isla Cristina has highlighted the institutional collaboration and thanked the Provincial Council for its efficiency in expediting the agreements to ensure the works begin on schedule.
