This recognition, granted by the Association for Environmental Education and the Consumer (Adeac), highlights compliance with rigorous criteria in water quality, environmental management, safety, and environmental information services. The province not only retains its distinctions but also adds a new blue center in Cartaya, reinforcing its commitment to environmental education.
The municipalities of Isla Cristina and Ayamonte lead the list with three awarded beaches each. In Isla Cristina, the beaches of La Casita Azul, Playa Central, and Islantilla (shared with Lepe) have received the distinction. For its part, Ayamonte maintains its flags in Isla Canela, Los Haraganes, and Punta del Moral.
Other prominent municipalities include Cartaya, with two flags in Caño de la Culata and San Miguel, and Lepe, which adds two in Santa Pura and Islantilla. The capital, Huelva, obtains a distinction for its beach in the Marismas del Odiel Natural Park, while Moguer does so for the Parador beach (Castilla) and Punta Umbría for the El Albergue section of its urban beach.
In addition to the beaches, six marinas have been recognized: the Asociación Deportiva Náutica Nuevo Portil (Cartaya) and the marinas of Ayamonte, Isla Cristina, Mazagón (Palos de la Frontera), El Terrón (Lepe), and Punta Umbría. The province also stands out in tourist boats with the company EMAI (Excursiones Marítimas Isleñas) and its boat Gran Guerrero, based in Isla Cristina.
“"A demonstration that we have excellent beaches with quality services."
Environmental recognition extends to five blue trails and two blue centers, with the new Faro Interpretation Center in Cartaya. The Casita Azul Interpretation Center in Isla Cristina also revalidates its distinction.
Huelva's prominence in the Blue Flag program will be further strengthened by the celebration of the III International Blue Flag Congress in Islantilla, from September 30 to October 2, 2026. This event, under the motto "Sustainability, Health and Safety," will bring together experts and professionals, positioning the Huelva coast at the forefront of international sustainable tourism.
