The incident occurred on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 8, when emergency services were alerted to a fire at a medical examination clinic, located on the ground floor of a building in the town of Cartaya. Despite the extensive deployment, the event resulted only in material damages, as confirmed by sources from Emergencias 112 Andalucía.
The first alert was received at 2:10 PM, reporting the presence of flames and a considerable accumulation of smoke inside the premises. According to information provided by Emergencias, the fire originated from an electrical outlet that caught fire, causing smoke to rapidly spread throughout the medical facilities.
The swift action of the staff and users, who detected the flames in time, allowed for the immediate evacuation of the clinic. This prompt response was crucial in preventing any injuries or cases of smoke inhalation.
In response to the situation, the Huelva Provincial Fire Consortium activated a significant logistical operation. Personnel were mobilized from the Punta Umbría (BC7) and Ayamonte (BC1) fire stations, given the nature of the building. The Huelva Provincial Firefighters' Union (SAB Bomberos) shared details of the deployment on its social media channels.
A total of eight personnel, including five firefighters, two corporals, and a sergeant, were dispatched to the scene with five intervention and rescue units. Extinguishing and ventilation efforts continued until the premises were deemed completely safe and all smoke had dissipated. The firefighters' intervention was essential in preventing the fire from spreading to adjacent premises and upper-floor residences.
