The mayor of Sanlúcar, Carmen Álvarez, accompanied by the Minister of Presidency, Health, and Emergencies, Antonio Sanz, and the president of the Provincial Council, Almudena Martínez, visited the new public health facilities that became operational last Monday.
The agreement for the construction of the center, located on municipal land ceded by the City Council to the Provincial Council, dates back to 2009. After various difficulties and modifications during construction, the opening was, according to the mayor, “incomprehensibly stalled since 2022”. The local government has undertaken numerous efforts with the Regional Government of Andalusia, the Provincial Council, and Endesa to unblock the project.
Carmen Álvarez highlighted that the opening of the center addresses a demand of nearly 20 years, stating: “A historic demand of the people of Sanlúcar is finally becoming a reality. La Dehesilla is an area with continuous population growth and has long needed health facilities commensurate with its expansion”.
The mayor described the path as “too long” but emphasized that the objective has been achieved thanks to the collaboration between the involved administrations. “When administrations coordinate efforts and work together, the public enjoys the results,” she added, expressing her gratitude to the Regional Government and the Provincial Council.
Carmen Álvarez also reaffirmed the local government's commitment to “continue demanding more human and professional resources for the new health center,” demonstrating her commitment to public healthcare to improve the attention received by the population of Sanlúcar.
