The municipal government has defended the plurality and independence of the public television station Costa Noroeste TV following complaints spread by the PSOE on social media regarding the channel's news coverage. According to a report sent to the mayor Carmen Álvarez, the station maintains an open relationship with all parties but requests raw material to edit news with its own journalistic criteria, a practice already in place during the previous term.
The station's management explains that, due to a lack of collaboration and to guarantee access rights and speaking time, audio is extracted from videos already edited by parties. It is recalled that the PSOE is the only party that does not accept invitations to special programs or respond to coverage requests, such as poster-hanging during the last regional elections.
The local government contrasts the current situation with the previous PSOE term, when other parties' participation was sought to be limited and council sessions were not broadcast. It is noted that the television, then trusted by Víctor Mora, is now questioned for not directly airing pre-edited party pieces, which could be misleading due to the insertion of footage from other times.
It is highlighted that Costa Noroeste TV will receive the City's Golden Insignia on the upcoming Sunday, October 18, Sanlúcar Day, for its over 40 years of service. The municipal government finds it noteworthy that the PSOE has not congratulated the staff and recalls that the working conditions of Costa Noroeste TV employees have been improved, contrasting with the lack of concern shown by Víctor Mora during his terms.
