The incident occurred last Monday, when a distress call was received around 8:40 PM. The 112 emergency service notified the Complex Operational Center of the Cádiz Command about a person on a windsurf board who was unable to control their direction within the river.
Given the seriousness of the situation, the Provincial Maritime Service was immediately activated. A search and rescue operation was launched, coordinated through the Integrated External Surveillance System (SIVE), to locate the windsurfer in the waters of the Guadalquivir.
The swift action of the emergency teams was crucial in locating the windsurfer in the Guadalquivir river.
After an intensive search, the windsurfer was finally located and rescued. Upon being brought to safety, it was confirmed that they were suffering from symptoms of hypothermia, significant physical exhaustion, and several cuts. The individual was promptly transferred to Chipiona pier, where they received initial care from medical services and were subsequently taken to a medical center for a more thorough evaluation.
