The mayor, Carmen Álvarez, presided over the diploma award ceremony for the ‘Enseña & Emprende’ Training and Employment Program, an initiative by the City Council funded by a regional subsidy of 364,788 euros. Accompanied by the program director, Ruth Palma, the mayor congratulated the 15 participants, all over 52, for their "effort and constancy" throughout the year.
Carmen Álvarez emphasized that "it is never too late to keep learning and open new job opportunities" and highlighted the municipal government's commitment to initiatives aimed at unemployed individuals facing difficulties entering the job market. The program allowed for the combination of specialized training with effective work within the local administration through alternating training and employment contracts.
Participants obtained two professional certificates: Qualification for Teaching in grades A, B, and C of the Vocational Training System (340 hours) and Creation and Management of Microenterprises (480 hours). The mayor stressed that the students' efforts are already yielding results, with confirmed job placements demonstrating the effectiveness of these training actions in improving employability.
Carmen Álvarez recalled that ‘Enseña & Emprende’ is part of the local government's strategy to promote employment in Sanlúcar, a city showing positive trends in its unemployment figures. She noted that in July, the number of unemployed individuals fell below 5,500 for the first time, and over 2,000 residents have left the unemployment rolls since the start of the current term.
The mayor thanked the program's technical and teaching team for their work and wished the participants success in their professional careers. The event took place on July 29, 2026.
