The city of Sanlúcar is preparing to host the IV Adoption Fair next Saturday, August 29th. The event, which will take place at La Calzada de la Duquesa Isabel from 6:00 PM to 11:30 PM, will bring together various animal shelters from the province of Cádiz, as well as volunteers and citizens interested in animal welfare.
Under the slogan "Don't buy a purebred, adopt one without a home", the fair aims to raise awareness about the importance of adoption and responsible pet ownership. It will also serve as a meeting point to raise funds for participating shelters and to promote volunteering, which is essential for their daily work. Attendees will be able to enjoy solidarity markets, raffles, and information booths about the work these organizations do.
Participating in the event will be the CER Felino Sanlúcar program and the shelters Brigada Animalista, Una Pequeña Odisea, La Gatera Pirata, Felinamente, PPPeludos Jerez, Kimba, Los Gatos de las Flores, San Antón, and Huellas Urbanas, with the collaboration of Protectoras Unidas Cádiz, Cereales Río, and 4 Patas.
The delegate for Animal Welfare, Carmen Pozo, highlighted the commitment of the government led by Mayor Carmen Álvarez to animal welfare. "The government of Mayor Carmen Álvarez maintains its commitment to animal welfare by promoting initiatives that foster responsible coexistence, support the work of the associative movement, and promote greater citizen awareness," Pozo stated. She added that "Actions like this fair contribute to building a more solidary, respectful, and committed city towards animal care".
The councilor responsible for the area emphasized that "each adoption represents a new opportunity, because it not only changes the life of the animal that finds a home, but also enriches the lives of those who decide to open their family's doors to them". Therefore, Carmen Pozo publicly encouraged all citizens to participate in this solidarity day and to learn firsthand about the work of the shelters, reminding them that "adopting is changing two lives".
